The Magic Of The West Chester Railroad

West Chester Railroad is a fun family outing that will take you back in time.

The West Chester Railroad is almost hidden driving down Market Street. There’s a dirt and gravel parking lot, and a little building where you can buy your tickets. As the train pulls up you’re immediately transported back in time. Most of the trains are from the 1940’s and 1960’s, with some upgrades since then, of course. The volunteer conductors are more than happy to fill you in on all the history.

As the train chugs along you can hear the clickety clack of the rails. It’s 15 miles round trip. The top speed of the train is about 20 miles per hour. A conductor comes around to punch your ticket. Outside the window you get beautiful scenic views of Chester Creek and the untouched parts of Chester County. Your train will pull up to Glenn, a picturesque restored Victorian station.

Glenn Mills operates as a museum, with lots of history to take in. There is also a picnic area nestled in a secluded wooded area.

All aboard Santa’s Express! Join Santa for a 90 minute journey on our heated decorated train through the Chester Creek Valley. Santa will be greeting everyone at Market Street Station and then going along for the ride to Glen Mills. Once at Glen Mills passengers can disembark and explore the historic station. There are plenty of photo opportunities on Santa’s lap inside the station. All passengers receive treats from Santa!

Passengers will also enjoy the live music of Greg Wright and friends singing all of your favorite Christmas songs. They take requests so don’t be shy!

PLEASE NOTE!: This event is extremely popular! Online ticket sales are cut off at midnight on the day of the event. Any unsold tickets will be available on that day at our ticket office on a first come, first served basis. Please arrive at the railroad 15 minutes prior to your departure. Seating is unreserved and groups that would like to sit together must board the train together.

Christmas Tree Train

West Chester Railroad is again hosting it’s popular Christmas Tree train this holiday season! We have partnered with Wiggins Tree Farm in West Chester, PA. The train will depart Market St station in West Chester, PA promptly at 8:00 AM. Once on board, passengers will enjoy coffee, hot chocolate, and donuts. The train will arrive at Wiggins at approx 8:30 AM where passengers will disembark at the tree farm to go pick and cut your Christmas tree down. Once you’ve picked that perfect tree, it will be banded up, tagged, and placed on our flat car. At 9:45 AM, passengers will then board the train and be brought back to West Chester where your trees will be off loaded from the train. The entire event lasts about 2 hours. Don’t miss this new spin on a classic holiday tradition! Seating is very limited so please order soon!

**Please note: Santa will NOT be on board this train. He is only on board our “Santa’s Express” trains. Christmas Trees are purchased separately and are priced at the discretion of Wiggin’s Tree Farm. Wiggins accepts only CASH for tree purchases. West Chester Railroad will have help on hand to load trees on to your car, but it is your responsibility to make sure trees are secured for transportation.
